March 2017 – Algonquin Child & Youth Care students for SchoolBOX
On Wednesday, March 15th and Sunday, March 19th, students from Algonquin College’s Child and Youth Care program hosted two fabulous events in Ottawa in support of SchoolBOX!
On Wednesday night, the students hosted a great crowd of friends and family at Hooley’s Pub on Elgin for a night of trivia, a silent auction, a photo booth, and karaoke. On Sunday, the event took place at Whiprsnapr Brewery in Nepean. The resourceful Algonquin students sold pizza, pulled pork sandwiches and homemade cookies to compliment the amazing craft beer. Along with the food, the students put together some amazing raffle prizes and activities such as a toonie toss, and a brewery tour. Both events drew an enthusiastic crowd and raised money to support SchoolBOX programs. The total amount raised will be announced at the program’s end-of-semester celebration in April.
SchoolBOX is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with these young ambassadors from the Algonquin Child and Youth Care program. Our strong and diverse community of supporters and volunteers across Canada and abroad is the reason why SchoolBOX is able to empower over 18,000 Nicaraguan children this year with the tools they need to get a basic education. Together, we are making a difference!
