June 2014 – Sports Area at Brett #3 Completed!
The Brett #3 School is one step closer to completion! We have recently put the finishing touches on the new sports area, where students will be able to play games and enjoy other activities during recess and physical education classes. Kids can enjoy themselves playing soccer, Frisbee, and skipping rope on their new playing surface.
When SchoolBOX first arrived in the Jardines de Apoyo community, the children loved to play soccer and other games on the empty field behind the school. The kids had so much energy during their soccer games that it was inspiring. Many children loved going to school because they had a chance to play sports with their friends. It was clear to SchoolBOX that the community needed a playing field. At the time, their sports area was littered with garbage and debris, and it turned into a giant mud pit during rainy season.
Thanks to your support, these kids have a proper place to play that they can use all year round! SchoolBOX would like to recognize the efforts and generosity of the Skiers 4 SchoolBOX team and Christine Hill for sponsoring the sports area. The students will enjoy this playing field for many years to come. The Brett School #3 built and just needs a final coat of paint before it is inaugurated in early July.
The newly completed sports area at the Brett #3 School is painted and ready for use! Thanks to Christine Hill and Skiers 4 SchoolBOX for this contribution to the school.
Students from the Jardines de Apoyo community test out the new sports area with a friendly game of soccer against volunteers from the University of Calgary
