May 2014 – Construction Update at Brett #3 School

The Brett 3 School in Jardines de Apoyo is nearing completion! With the classrooms fully built and just needing a coat of paint and furnishings, the focus is on finishing the three bathrooms and the sports area. We can’t wait to see the final pieces fall into place as we complete and inaugurate this school in the coming weeks!

The four classroom school in Jardines de Apoyo will serve over 100 children in kindergarten to Grade Six, who are currently learning in a tent and two makeshift structures. The entire community is so excited to have this new school. The students, teachers and parents regularly come out to help with construction in any way they can. It is wonderful to have so much support.

Thank you to the Brett Bentley Crawford Foundation and Building Walls of Wisdom for the funding of the classrooms. We would also like to thank the Skiers 4 SchoolBOX and Christine Weir for their contribution of the sports area. And finally, thanks to all 46 volunteers that travelled to Nicaragua to help us build a future for the 100+ children in Jardines de Apoyo.
