Ascencion Oviedo School Build
Location: Chinandega, Nicaragua
2 classrooms, classroom tools (desk, chairs, whiteboard)
Total Project Cost – $36,000
The Ascencion Oviedo School is located in the small city of Chinandega in Northwest Nicaragua.Students travel from 11 surrounding communities to attend this large school. Some walk over an hour to get to their classes. The student population has increased to more than 800 children. However, this increased enrollment has strained the schools’ infrastructure. The current makeshift classrooms are dark, structurally unsafe and have dirt floors which turn to mud in the rain.
The principal of Ascencion Oviedo, Berbys Betania Benavides, is dedicated to improving the schools’ conditions to better serve her hundreds of students from K-6.
