April 2019 – Welcome Back Sarah!
We are proud to welcome Sarah Kerr back to SchoolBOX after her maternity leave. The past year was a difficult one for SchoolBOX, and we are thankful that Sarah was always available behind the scenes supporting our team. We are also grateful for Sarah’s many contributions to SchoolBOX over the past 12 years as it has really put our organization in a position of strength to move forward.
Sarah is now returning to SchoolBOX as the new Director of SchoolBOX North. She will be building upon the success of our IYES (Indigenous Youth Empowering Students) volunteer program and the Wabauskang First Nations community library to help empower Indigenous communities all around Canada to get a basic education. She will continue to promote SchoolBOX’s mission of ‘Making Education Possible’ to marginalized communities closer to home. We are especially thankful to a special donor for the initial seed money to see this program expand in 2019 and beyond.
Jonathan Tam, who has done an incredible job in his role as Acting Executive Director for the past year, is now moving into the role of SchoolBOX Executive Director and will continue to promote and oversee operations in Nicaragua. We are especially excited to see the reinstatement of our volunteer program, which includes an IYES trip, this summer.
