July 2019 – Win a House and Support SchoolBOX

Two Ottawa entrepreneurs have a novel idea. In a tough housing market, they have decided to pay it forward. They are holding a contest to give away their million dollar house. Each contestant must answer a few skill testing questions, along with a $25 entry fee, and write a 97 word letter on why they deserve the house and how they will pay it forward. For Immediate Release – Ottawa, July 12th: The home renovation artisans hosting Ottawa’s first million-dollar house contest will open the doors to the public for the first time July 21 st from 1pm to 4pm at 2286 Bowman Road. In addition to the $25 entry fee, the winner will need to tell judges how they could benefit if they win and how they will pay it forward, all in less than 100 words.

It’s time for contestants to see the house in person or online! Here is the information and video link to the stunning Alta Vista home at With the Open House comes four new contest announcements.

First, any participant who shares the contest link twice on their social feeds will be entered to win a “Door Prize,” the stunning floor lamp featured in the home’s beautiful living room. Second, those who come to the Open House and leave their contact information will be entered into a separate contest for a gift basket. Third, we are announcing a strategic partnership with a local entrepreneur who will be
leaving two welcome gifts in the home for the winning person. Lexy Lynn Designs is quickly becoming known for her one-of-a-kind boot racks with personalized messages. The contest hosts, McIntosh Real Estate Investment ( ), like to support local business.

And finally, the ripples of paying it forward are growing! Charitable relationships have been solidified with Operation Come Home (, SchoolBOX ( and the Special Olympics ( Each of these charities will receive significant proceeds from entry fees upon successful completion of this contest.

Says Allan McIntosh, McIntosh REI’s President, “We couldn’t possibly ask our contest participants to ‘Pay it Forward’ and not do it ourselves. So, over the course of the last few weeks, we have carefully looked at local charities to ensure we are helping young people feel “at home” – whether that means in sport, school, or a safe place off the streets.”

“We are so excited to see what comes of this contest,” says Connie McIntosh, McIntosh REI’s Vice-President. “We will whittle 50,000 entries down to a shortlist of 100, which our judges will review and rate. The person who submits the judges’ top pick will win the house. It’s that simple.”
