February 2017 – Chili Supper for Father Rick’s School Campaign
On Thursday, February 16th, friends and congregation members at St. Paul’s Anglican Church gathered to eat delicious chili, listen to Spanish music, learn more about Nicaragua and the work of SchoolBOX, and kick-off fundraising in support of Father Rick’s School.
Ray and Lorna Brule were part of a group of volunteers from St. Paul’s and St. Thomas Anglican Churches who traveled to Nicaragua this past July to take part in a school build with SchoolBOX. They were deeply touched by the experience and immediately thought of their dear friend and pastor, Father Rick Marples, who had passed away the previous year. His life touched so many, with his love of God, his commitment to his community, and his encouragement of kids through coaching sports and other volunteering. Ray and Lorna knew that building a school that could empower hundreds of kids with an education, was the perfect way to remember the life of Father Rick.
The chili supper took place at the St. Paul’s social hall, and a total of $520 was raised in support of Father Rick’s School. Stay tuned for the next fundraiser!
