January 2019 – Nicaraguan Volunteers Believe in Education
The last two weeks of January were very special for our team in Nicaragua. They were not only excited about the new year, but they were also happy to welcome 46 Nicaraguan volunteers to the SchoolBOX office. The volunteers were from different parts of the country, but had the common belief that education was the key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
These volunteers worked with the SchoolBOX team to package over 18,000 school supply kits that will be distributed later this year to our partner communities all around Nicaragua. Our team was so impressed with the dedication of these 46 volunteers. These volunteers took time out of their holiday, working week, or weekend to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate.
The 46 volunteers gave a total of 287 hours over 9 days with the lone goal of helping SchoolBOX achieve their mission. The entire SchoolBOX family in Canada and Nicaragua is so proud of our Nicaraguan volunteers. They are a great example of how our global community is working towards the same goal.
