March 2018 – Register for our Indigenous Youth trip this June!
We are THRILLED to announce our next Indigenous Youth Empowering Students (IYES) trip to Nicaragua, June 7-16, 2018!
For 10 days, a team of Indigenous Youth leaders from across Canada will help us build a new classroom in Nicaragua and share their culture with the students and teachers. By realizing their potential to create change abroad, we want to empower these youth to return home and create change within their own communities. If you are an Indigenous youth between the ages of 18-30, we want you to be part of this life-changing experience!
You can click here to read the story Terri Meekis, a mother of three and member of Wabauskang First Nation, who came to Nicaragua twice with our IYES program and then in October 2017 she spearheaded an initiative to install an Indigenous library on her home reserve with SchoolBOX. Terri inspires us, and we know that there are so many eager youth out there who have the power to fight for access to education for all Indigenous children and youth in Canada.
Youth under 30 years old are eligible for a flight scholarship which will cover the cost of a return flight from Canada to Nicaragua. Volunteers are also encouraged to fundraise in their communities to cover the remainder of their trip fees.
