Annual General Meeting 2022
SchoolBOX Board of Directors and Staff team met in February for another successful AGM!
It is always a meaningful time when our team gets together and reflects on the previous year’s successes. It was a time for celebration, reflection, and one farewell.
SchoolBOX would like to sincerely thank Amber Hall, for her 10+ years of service on our Board of Directors! Amber has been a dedicated supporter and leader on our team and SchoolBOX is forever grateful for her impact. Natalie Gunn-Abrams, SchoolBOX Chair, shares, “The heartbeat of SchoolBOX is strong due to the incredible passion and commitment of its staff and volunteers. Amber Hall has been an exemplary board member and a true SchoolBOX champion. We are so thankful for her work these past 10 years.”

Jim Sale and Stephanie Potter
Thank you Amber, for all you have accomplished and for your incredible impact on our community. We wish Amber the absolute best in what’s next!
And as we said one farewell, our small but dedicated team of staff, board of directors, community educators and supporters remain united in a vision to see all children reaching their potential by thriving in and graduating from safe local schools that reflect their culture and traditions.
The Auditor General of Canada reports only 24% of kids living on- reserve finish high school in 4 yrs. More than half of First Nations children on-reserve live in poverty. The roots of this reality stem back to the residential school system and continue with the lack of equitable infrastructure, funding and support today.
That is why we have created simple, efficient programs to provide essential school resources and healthy lunches, Indigenous books and libraries, safe classrooms and infrastructure so classroom and land-based learning can inspire this next generation of children and youth to be the change. If you would like to read our full annual report for 2022 you can do so here.
At SchoolBOX our entire team remains committed and focused on answering the Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action of eliminating the education gap for kids on reserve. We are energized and excited for 2023 and all the beautiful communities, children and youth we will partner with.
We invite you to join us in 2023 on this meaningful mission to support kids and to help make education possible. It’s going to take work, courage, humility and love but the impacts will be greater than we can ever imagine. If you would like to donate you can do so here.
Thank you and Miigwetch to our volunteer Board of Directors, dedicated staff, volunteers, supporters and educators for your love, dedication and generosity for SchoolBOX and all the kids we serve!
