Welcome Amber Kendall as Interim Executive Director!
Please join us in welcoming Amber Kendall to the SchoolBOX team as Interim Executive Director! We are so excited to have her knowledge, skills and passion on our team as Sarah Kerr begins her maternity leave.
From SchoolBOX, we wish Sarah the very best, and for a happy and restful time with her family!
As we welcome Amber, we want to give you the chance to get to know her:
Amber Kendall is a dual citizen of the US and Canada, most recently supporting the American Red Cross, managing donor development for three states. She relocated back to Canada during the pandemic.
Before her move south in 2015, Amber worked for Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops BC as Director of Development, supporting the fundraising needs of the three faculties. At TRU, she played an integral role in fundraising for a $50 million Capital Campaign.
Amber is not new to getting projects that directly impact Indigenous youth funded. At TRU, Amber helped grow the ‘Elder in the House’ mentoring program, she secured technology donations to outfit a computer lab and resource centre used by Indigenous students, she liaised with Secwepemc community leaders and wrote a case for support that led to a collection of First Nations video and sound recordings to be digitized. She also wrote grants that awarded scholarships to students enrolled in TRU’s Aboriginal Tourism Training program.
Over the last three decades, Amber has proven herself as an enthusiastic and accomplished non-profit sector professional. She has dedicated her career to helping others and she is thrilled to join the SchoolBOX team.
In her spare time, Amber enjoys traveling both near and far and gourmet cooking.
We’re so excited to have Amber join our team this year, bringing her amazing skill set to support our team and build SchoolBOX!
