September 2017 – Inauguration day at Cristo Rey!

August ended with a bang at SchoolBOX, as we inaugurated five brand new classrooms at Cristo Rey School. The SchoolBOX team gathered at Cristo Rey on August 31st, along with our partners from Good Neighbours USA who generously funded this build. This new five-classroom school includes four full classrooms for students, and one classroom to be shared for an administrative space for teachers and a school library.

Karen Austin from the Canadian Embassy to Nicaragua was in attendance at the inauguration and stated that, “I would like to congratulate SchoolBOX on all the work that it has been doing in Nicaragua, and especially this new area (at Cristo Rey) for the school library. The kids are excited, they’re enthusiastic, they can’t wait to get their hands on the books that are just new in this library and this is great! This is where kids build their imagination, this is where kids get excited for their future, this is where they get ideas for what they want to be and what they can be. Libraries are really a fundamental foundation of working in education”.

SchoolBOX is so grateful to the generous donor Good Neighbours, whose partnership truly did ‘Make Education Possible’ for the many deserving children at Cristo Rey. We can not wait to see what these children do in the future, as they make use of these new school facilities that will enable them to receive a quality education.
